Day 2 was all about snorkeling adventures! We booked a tour with Pride of Maui to Molokini Crater and Turtle Town, and while I had a bit of motion sickness on the way there, it was 100% worth it once we arrived. As we approached the crater, we were greeted by hundreds of Great Frigatebirds soaring above. Even better, I spotted some Red-footed Boobies, which was a huge highlight for me!

We snorkeled around the crater for a bit before heading to our second stop, Turtle Town. We had signed up for “snuba,” which is kind of like scuba diving but with a twist – instead of lugging around a tank, you’re connected to a floating raft via a 12-foot tube. It was a fun experience, though we didn’t spot any turtles. Honestly, I think next time I’d prefer full scuba diving, but snuba was a nice intro without needing certification.

After our tour, we were determined to see a turtle, so we set off to snorkel at a few more bays. Our first stop was Honokahua Bay at DT Fleming Beach Park, but the current seemed a bit strong, and we didn’t see anyone else snorkeling, so we decided to move on. Next up was Kapalua Bay Beach, which was pretty crowded, but success – we finally saw a sea turtle! It was such an amazing moment, especially after searching all day.
To top off the day, we walked to Whalers Village and had dinner at Leilani’s on the Beach. We ordered fish tacos and a giant slice of hula pie. The fish tacos were delicious – I even asked the waitress what kind of fish they used, but I can’t remember now. Whatever it was, it was fresh and flavorful. And the hula pie? Let’s just say it was the perfect way to end a day full of underwater exploration!
